My life seems to revolve in some form around triathlon.  This year I know will not be any different.

In conjunction with being part of the Rev3 Tri Team I figure now is as good of a time as any to come start raising ‘the bar’ on my seriousness.  I don’t have a thesaurus with me at the moment so don’t get too distracted by the word ‘seriousness’.  I still intend to have an ample supply of fun, perhaps with less beer in hopes to shed some poundage.  I want to see what I can do if I actually put my mind to work.  For the past few years I have just been coasting through my training and racing.

Triathlon started out for me as a challenge.  While going faster isn’t getting any easier, I have found myself uttering the words “I already know I can finish the distance” just before skipping a workout.  This has to change, is going to change.  I’m not in it to just finish anymore, heck I have been long past that stage for a while now.  Now is the time to get my head where it belongs.

I’m in the process of setting up a training calendar complete with workouts that are planned so people can help keep me in check.  Even if nobody calls me out on it.

So to get to the point of all this.  I have a couple goals for 2012 since it’s that time of year again.

  1. 9:25 @ Rev3 Cedar Point
  2. Earn a Cat3 upgrade
  3. Start coaching
  4. Start a coaching a kids multisport club
  5. Continue to have FUN

I realize those are actually longer than 2012 goals, but in reality a GOAL is a DREAM with a deadline.

Here’s to a 2012 we can be proud of.
